2008 F1 Schedule - With Surprises

Friday July 27, 2007
The World Motor Sport Council obviously decided to use its time together yesterday judging the spy scandal to also agree on the provisional 2008 Formula 1 schedule. There are a few surprises. And I'll be looking forward to seeing Istanbul in May! Not sure about Valencia at the end of August, though.... And then there is the reappearance of the French Grand Prix....

Re the ’spy’ scandal. I can’t but take my mind back to the end of the 2006 season, when Alonso won the World Championship in a wonderful and very fast Renault car. It came as a great surprise to me to hear him say, that he would be joining McLaren for the 2007 season. During the 2006 season McLaren had done nothing too spectacular. At what time I wonder did McLaren have the ’spy’papers because it sure is a fast McLaren thats going around the circuits now. Even putting the Ferrari’s to shame.

Actually, McLaren received the papers after the season had already started. Two races into, I think. And they had already won a race.
