F1 Spy Scandal to be Prolonged

Tuesday August 7, 2007
The International Automobile Federation today announced that the re-trial by the International Court of Appeal of the McLaren Mercedes team in the F1 spy scandal, originally scheduled for sometime at the end of August, will now take place on Sept. 13. That coincides with the Thursday of the Belgian Grand Prix, so the Formula 1 press will have to decide whether to attend the hearing, or the FIA press conference at Spa Francorchamps. Curious.

That’s rather odd.Couldn’t they just use the 3-week break before the Turkish GP?Will be quite a hectic weekend for the team bosses and other team personel who will attend the meeting.

But then again, the trial could decide the championship titles,so it will be quite irrelevant what happens in Belgium.

Yes, good point. That was a bit selfish of me to think only of the F1 press - but I suspect the team bosses and personnel will be able to arrange easy transportation between Paris and Spa.
