McLaren Mercedes Presents its 2008 Car
A day after Ferrari launched its new car, McLaren presented its 2008 car in Stuttgart at the Mercedes-Benz Musuem. That's the reverse order of their results in the series last year. But it won't be possible to tell if there's any significance to that until later this week when we begin to see the cars in action at winter testing.
Talk about working down to the last minute, though. McLaren said that the car was completed only yesterday and left the McLaren Technology Centre in the UK at around 18:00 GMT, and was driven in a Mercedes-Benz Actros to the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart-Untertürkheim, having covered approximately 1000kms, arriving around 10:00 this morning. I wonder if Lewis Hamilton was driving that Actros!?

so…beautiful
Yes… but I think the Ferrari looks nicer. Of course, until they are visible live or on tv in detail, it will be difficult to make a final decision on which is most beautiful. How about a beauty contest for F1 cars?!
syamchenko, you gave me the idea to do a poll on which is the most beautiful f1 car of the year - so that’s now higher up here in the blog…
I’ve not seen a more leaner or meaner Ferrari than the one that is to race in 2008.
Then I have a feeling I know which car you voted for Rita…!
Hi formula1
I hadn’t actually voted till you reminded me, been and done it now, looking at the results so far seems I’m not the only one that’s up for Ferrari!
Comment on perhaps Hamilton driving the Mercedes-Benz Actros to get the new McLaren there on time - I drive a 22 wheeler Merc-Bendz Actros 1840 - wonderful trucks, he would have made it in plenty of time.
If ever you see the nickname ActrosMe on the web, then thats me. Drop in and say Hello
Very cool Rita. That’s what I like to see: Someone with a good reason to vote for a car that bears the same name as the one they drive voting for a different one because it is better looking. On the other hand, perhaps you’d RATHER be driving a Ferrari….
I have driven a Ferrari Brad. It was at a driving skills contest in aid of cancer research. I had to drive an 18 wheeler (easy-peasy), a bus, a dumper truck, a JCB, a fire engine amonst other things. I should have had a tank to drive but they could not get one, so they got three cars for me to choose from a TVR, an Aston Martin and a Ferrari. Of course I chose the Ferrari. I was asked to drive it as fast as I could but take a right hand bend in the distance at 60mph. I got the Ferrari only up to 175mph but turned the corner at 61mph, so I gained a full ten points. I was nicknamed after the contest as ‘Ritaurus the Tifosian’, mainly becase my name is Rita and my birthsign is Taurus.Oh happy days.
I used to smile to myself when watching a Grand Prix to hear the commentator say ‘Schumacher reaches 175 down the straight on this part of the circuit’, I thought been there done that and got the certificate.
Umm… I’m more than a little impressed. Especially that they allowed you to win the prize while failing to do slower than 61 in the corner!
Wow, I’d have chosen the Ferrari too.
