Alonso Fastest In Friday Practice

After his engine blew out this morning, Fernando Alonso this afternoon set the fastest time of the day's practice sessions for Renault at the team's home race in Magny-Cours. A surprise? "Might have something to do with fuel," Alonso mumbled during the press conference afterwards. He pointed out that the team seemed to work harder at home, as well. But that's not likely true. I think he was just keeping his cards close to his chest. In fact, the set the fastest time here was great, but the Renault has indeed been improving in recent races despite the problems encountered by the team and the driver. Still, Alonso cannot imagine doing better than around fourth - and that only if Lewis Hamilton stays behind him. Hamilton has been penalized 10 spots on the grid after his error in the pit lane in Montreal....
