Barrichello Wins Massa Kart Race

Monday December 1, 2008

Rubens Barrichello looks like he's on a mission to prove that he deserves to continue driving in Formula 1 next season at the Honda team. But he's doing this in go-kart races! He won a race in South America a few weeks ago and now he has won Felipe Massa's annual charity race in Brazil on Sunday. Karting is the place where virtually all the F1 drivers began their racing careers - will it be the place Barrichello ends his?

His drive at Honda is under threat by Bruno Senna, among others. But clearly Barrichello still has speed. In Brazil he raced against top drivers from around the world, including Jeff Gordon of Nascar. And look at the top competition: Michael Schumacher was there again, and finished fourth (although he set the fastest lap) while Massa himself finished fifth. Lucas Di Grassi was just 1.2 seconds behind Barrichello. Anyway, all good fun. But I can't help reading into it a message from Rubens.
