Just as several of the drivers and teams were complaining about a lack of grip on the Monza circuit today in practice sessions for preparation for the Italian Grand Prix on Sunday, the Bridgestone Tire Company - which supplies them with their tires - was celebrating its last European Grand Prix of its current period in Formula 1.
Bridgestone is leaving the series at the end of this year, and it decided to hold a party in its motor home. The party, at least, was quite a success: Not only was it well attended by the F1 media, but drivers like Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button and Michael Schumacher also showed up to toast the Japanese tire manufacturer. From the team directors, there were Ross Brawn, the head of the Mercedes team, Stefano Domenicali, from Ferrari, Martin Whitmarsh, from McLaren, and Vijay Mallya, from Force India.
