Now that Peter Sauber's team, Sauber, is back performing extremely well after it lost its BMW owner a three years ago and looked on the precipice, Sauber, who turns 69 this year, said that he may well stay around longer in the series than what he had been saying in recent years.
He had said he did not want to be on the pit wall at age 70. On Austrian television, on Servus TV he said he had no idea when he would retire: "To watch the races only on television is the worst thing of all," he said. Sauber himself had started out as a racing car driver more than 40 years ago, when he started the team.
