What an earful that was: In one fell swoop, the Mercedes team announced today that it had hired Lewis Hamilton to race for the team next season on a three year deal; that he was replacing Michael Schumacher (who may or may not retire); that the team had signed the new commercial agreement with Formula One; and that Niki Lauda would join its board of directors.
A few spots up the pitlane, the McLaren Mercedes team announced that it has signed Sergio Perez to drive for the team on a multi-year contract - with Jenson Button as teammate. That's another Mercedes announcement, when you think about it!
In any case, the gossip on those subjects is definitively done.
