Only a relatively small handful of people have the right to go to the starting grid in the half hour prior to the start of a Formula 1 Grand Prix race. For most people who visit the grid during that time, it is an experience they will never forget, as the teams line up their cars surrounded by mechanics, engineers, team owners and sponsor VIPS. It is the congregation of stars, dignitaries, media, former racing drivers and others mixed in with a technological festival of sights, smells and sounds. The whole is mixed with the tension written on the faces of the drivers and team members in the final moments before the race begins.
