Kart Tracks Are Familiar Looking Venues, F1 on a Small Scale

Spectators Find it Easier to Move Around and Access Kart Events

From Brad Spurgeon, About.com

The paddock, trackside and garages are easier to access for a public eager to see, hear and smell the karts, where future stars of Formula 1 learn their sport.

Spectators watch the 250cc kart circle the track at the Circuit Carole, north of Paris, in February during the Kart Discovery fair.

So many familiar names and sites of auto racing are on hand at a kart track that without looking at the small sized machines whizzing about the track, it would be easy to imagine that a spectator is at car race. The paddock and garage area are usually easier to access, though, and spectators are free to walk around and watch a race from many different parts of the track, rather than being stuck in one grand stand seat as often happens at a Formula 1 event.
