It was supposed to be a national celebration when Lewis Hamilton returned home for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, his home race. The young rookie had still managed to finish every race on the podium, and he was leading the championship. But even before the weekend began, the dark cloud of the sport's biggest ever spy scandal had begun, and the effect of the fight between McLaren Mercedes - Hamilton's team - and Ferrari, was to dull the festivities.
