Formula 1 is NOT Champ Car

Champ Car is something few people know anymore about than Formula 1. But in case you have seen these cars that race at tracks all over America, and that look almost exactly like Formula 1 cars - ie, insects - do not be fooled.

Champ Cars may look the same to someone with an untrained eye, but they are far from being the same as F1 cars: In Formula 1, every team must build its own car according to instructions it receives from the FIA. Think in terms of a dozen kids buying a plastic car model, opening the box and finding that it contains only the instructions and not the parts to build the car. Those dozen kids are like the 11 or 12 teams in Formula 1 who all have the instructions, but must build the car themselves with their own materials and staff.

The result is that rather than having identical cars, some teams make better cars than others and the technology rises to a point of perfection. In Champ Car, all the cars are basically the same, the chassis being bought from a supplier.
