Unlike most of the other racing series I mentioned in the previous pages, Formula 1 is a worldwide event, not just the racing series of a single country.

Not only are the teams based in England, Germany, Italy, France, Japan and Switzerland and probably a few other places I have overlooked, but the races take place elsewhere.

Formula 1 is a true world series - unlike the real World Series of baseball, which is not a world series. Formula 1 races take place in North and South America, Asia, the Middle East, Europe, England, etc. With 18 races on average in a season, just about every race takes place in a different country. There are exceptions, for instance, there will be two races in Spain next year, the Spanish Grand Prix and the European Grand Prix. But they take place at different tracks. There have frequently been two races in Germany and Italy, although not this year.

The drivers are from many different nationalities too.
